It doesn’t seem long since the football and rugby seasons finished but pre season is starting up again. An exciting season ahead for NUFC and we’re looking forward to once again supporting the medical team with their management of any concussions. Baseline neurocognitive testing is complete and will be useful in helping decisions in relation to recovery should a concussion occur. An understanding of pre injury function and vulnerabilities is so important in managing concussive injuries not just within the professional game. We are, however, aware that NUFC and the other organisations we work with will be hoping this is the only time we are at their clubs this season! ... See MoreSee Less

We are fortunate to have been involved with a great team at Newcastle University for the last 4 years and look forward to the ongoing support of their concussion management services as well as some exciting research projects.

Thank you to Darren Fearn, Director of rugby for his kind words about that ongoing relationship:

"I have worked with Neurocog (now Cognisant) for two seasons now and will continue too moving forward. The concussion provision and support for the players is the best I have seen during my time within rugby as a former professional player and now coach.

There are many benefits from working with Neurocog, the information gathered and then the support that follows is specific to the individual, not just a generic process, this includes before players take the field and support post-concussion.

The return to play process really stands out to me in a positive way, the process is thorough and communicated well to the appropriate personal, which is very reassuring for all involved with the club"
